The Challenge of Time…
Time ushered in our start,
The first beat of our heart.
Time called us forth to grow.
In time, it will cause us to slow.
Time races on; time stands still.
Wasted time is as a bitter pill.
Time will train you, drain you.
Time will strain you, stain you.
We are oft to try to hurry time.
We loathe time leaving us behind.
Time is a measure to judge you,
Subtle to nudge, abrupt to budge you.
Time stops, and yet, never ceases.
Time ails, but time also eases.
It gives, it takes; it builds, it breaks.
It runs from us and catches up with us.
It allows us to make our mark,
Then it makes its mark on us.
Time helps us remember.
Time causes us to forget.
Time holds memories we savor,
And harbors moments we regret.
We bottle time in pictures,
But over time, even they fade.
We study time in history,
But even history is lost in age.
We run, racing against the winding clock,
Dreading the finish line,
And the thought of being docked.
But, Beloved, with the time left,
LIVE—‘til your very last breath.
Take time to laugh, love, think, do, and be.
Make time to pause and reflect, sentimentally.
Praise the Father, Author of time and eternity,
For gifting you with time, purpose, and being.
And though time be a challenge, an enigma,
Embrace and employ the challenge and gift of time.
