A Sight for Sore Eyes

A Sight for Sore Eyes

Lord Jesus,
We are burdened to the point, we cry,
For temptations and trials abound and intensify.
Your beloved look with longing for You to appear.
Though we suffer, yet we are striving to persevere,
To see You, the blessed sight for our sore eyes.

We search Your word to prepare for You to descend.
We toil to carry it out for glory with You, we may ascend.
Your word is truth that those who love You hold dear.
For, You promised to come and receive us from here.
Your word we cite with hope to relieve our sore eyes.

At Your first appearing, men gazed upon You with awe.
Those who drew nigh You, sorrowed for You had to withdraw.
You had to leave and go back to the Father; it was His will.
But, You sent Your Spirit to dwell with Your own, still.
Your Spirit, on site, with us, enlivens our sore eyes.

To grieving mothers shedding torrents of tears,
To vulnerable humanity tormented by their fears,
To the hungry with, sorrowfully, nothing to eat,
To the homeless, haphazardly, living on the street,
Sighted moments of Your mercy in us has eased sore eyes.

The elderly who have been ravaged by age
Yearn in hope to the march across heaven’s stage.
Those who have been beat up and beat down,
Desire that place where all shall wear a crown,
For we have heard heaven is a lovely site for sore eyes.

You have charged us to preach the Gospel to all creatures,
To make known Your saving grace and its amazing features.
You, for love, hung, bled, and died that we might live.
Help us proclaim the Good News with all we have to give,
So, sinners would, by You, gain new sight for their sore eyes.

One day You shall illumine all the world’s skies,
Making Yourself visible at once to every nation’s eyes.
Come, Lord, we welcome You from our heart,
Desiring the day that from You we will never part.
For at Your sight, we will never again experience sore eyes.

Jesus Christ, a welcome visitor is soon to come.
Are the eyes of your soul prepared to see Him?

Titus 2:11-14 (New Living Translation)
For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.
