Is it Love?

Is it Love?

Love can be rather precarious,
If one knows not what love is.
Are you in love or are you in lust?
One perseveres, the other goes bust.
Are you infatuated or just fascinated?
Know before your heart gets deflated.
Love is more than a mere emotion,
More about action, than a giddy notion.
A devoted love leaps into harm’s way.
Faithful love guards against going astray.
Real love is in it for the long haul,
Weathers life’s storms, big or small.
It looks past the worst to find the best.
It’s passionate, rewarding, and at rest.
Authentic, soul deep love matures.
When all else fails, true love endures.

Is it Love?

Love Never Fails…
1 Corinthians 13:8

Know love, show love…
Sow love, grow love…
If you have love, hold on to it...

One

One

The sun, moon, planets, and stars make one.
Let us be one.
The mind, the body, and the soul make one.
Let us be one.
A Father, a mother, a daughter, a son make one.
Let us be one.
Tiny communities, small towns, and big cities make one.
Let us be one.
Light, dark, or whatever our shade we were made from one.
Let us be one.
The Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit all make one.
Let us be one.
The Son is one with the Father, the Father one with the Son.
Let us be one.
To be one with the Father, we must be one with the Son.
Let us be one.
To be one with each other, we must be one in the Son.
Let us be one.
With God and each other, united forever, let us be one…

One

Let us be one by Solidarity with the SAVIOR – Let us be one!

John 17:20-23 (The Message)
I'm praying not only for them But also for those who will believe in Me Because of them and their witness about Me. The goal is for all of them to become one heart and mind—Just as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, So they might be one heart and mind with Us. Then the world might believe that You, in fact, sent Me. The same glory You gave Me, I gave them, So they'll be as unified and together as We are— I in them and You in Me. Then they'll be mature in this oneness, And give the godless world evidence That You've sent Me and loved them In the same way You've loved Me.

A Preacher

A Preacher

Father, I thank Thee for choosing mere me,
To go into the world to preach for Thee.
To tell a dying world of Thy beloved Son,
And the valiant victory over sin, He won.
May I ever preach in the power of Thy Spirit,
Rightly, declaring Thy truth, so all may hear it.
To preach Jesus, the living word of the holy text,
So liberty may come to weary souls sin-vexed.
Keep me from the evil snares of glitz and glam,
That my labor be not a perverse sham.
Help me bear my cross, live what I proclaim,
So I would bring honor to Thy name.
And as I suffer for Thy righteous cause,
May I never cease to preach, never pause;
But, endeavor ‘til my death, to wholly, faithful be,
Then rest from my toil in Thy midst for eternity.

Amen…
Anchored, Mentored, and Empowered by Jesus and
Needing Him more and more…

Galatians 1:15-16NLT …before I was born, God chose me and called me by His marvelous grace. Then it pleased Him to reveal His Son to me so that I would proclaim the Good News about Jesus…

Are You There Yet?

Are You There Yet?

Have you arrived yet,
On your glorious trip with your child?
Are you on the fabulous freeway
That leads to a lifetime of interchange.
At hand and attentive in steering them
Along the trying on-ramp of inner change?
Have you shown life’s road signs of real love,
Signaling in all honesty, that you truly care?
“How?” you ask. Just by being there!
Being there in word proven with action,
Being there to exemplify true compassion.
Being there to inspire and sincerely relate.
Being there to responsibly alert and educate,
Being there as parent to nurture and guide.
Being there with all your heart,
Doing your best to make the most of the ride,
Trusting Jesus, knowing He will help you whatever betides.
Have you reached one of the most prized destinations there is,
Your child’s precious heart?

They need to know how to deal with people or situations that vex. They need appropriate knowledge about sex. They need to know to avoid people or behavior that will drag them under. They need to know God and that He is able to deliver them from anyone or anything that would seem to break them asunder.

Ephesians 6:4 (NLT) Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.

No Time for Hating Haters

No Time for Hating Haters

There are those around about you
Who harbor animosity and doubt you.
They remember you from around the way.
They remember you from back in the day.
They sense a fresh new flow from you.
That blesses others who see and hear you.
They simply cannot seem to understand,
Accusing you of using slyness of hand.
Reviling you whenever on whatever they can,
Saying, “He wants folks to join his petty band.”
Nevertheless, you know that is not really real.
Your heart is fixed on just doing God’s will.
Even though, to others it is a bitter pill
For God to use you to them is unreal.
Don’t you dare stop to play petty games,
With haters who attack your righteous aims.
Keep stepping up for the cause of your Lord,
Reconciling the lost to Jesus, bringing accord.
Let the haters know you do not have time to play,
By being steadfast in what God told you to do and say.

You have no time for haters except to pray, do good, bless, and love them anyway. You keep your heart, your mind, your body, your whole being moving towards heaven’s way.

Luke 21:17-19 (Amplified Bible) And you will be hated (despised) by everyone because [you bear] My name and for its sake. But not a hair of your head shall perish. By your steadfastness and patient endurance you shall win the true life of your souls.

Treasure Your Own Treasure

Treasure Your Own Treasure

Treasure your own treasure or else you may feel like trash when the treasure that you took for granted, failing to treasure is gone. Be forewarned and persuaded, also, to keep your hands off other people’s treasure or else you will trash other people’s lives, provoking people to trash you, reaping the trash you sowed.

Philippians 1:9-11 (Amplified Bible)
And this I pray: that your love may abound yet more and more and extend to its fullest development in knowledge and all keen insight [that your love may display itself in greater depth of acquaintance and more comprehensive discernment],

So that you may surely learn to sense what is vital, and approve and prize what is excellent and of real value [recognizing the highest and the best, and distinguishing the moral differences], and that you may be untainted and pure and unerring and blameless [so that with hearts sincere and certain and unsullied, you may approach] the day of Christ [not stumbling nor causing others to stumble].

May you abound in and be filled with the fruits of righteousness (of right standing with God and right doing) which come through Jesus Christ (the Anointed One), to the honor and praise of God [that His glory may be both manifested and recognized].

Sprout

Sprout

A tiny sprout found himself set in a daunting wood.
Despite his context, he desired to be all he could.
He gathered that he could grow strong in the light.
Daily, he immersed himself in the sun, gaining might.
His self-discipline stimulated distinctive growth.
His progress inspired him to proclaim an oath.
“God, since You love me, I’ll be all You want me to be.”
By faith in God, the little sprout grew into a treasured tree.
His shade invigorated countless souls who came near.
Let us remember that God holds even small things dear.
Allow me to enlighten and encourage you, my little one.
God cares for those who trust in Jesus, His beloved Son.

Small beginnings can spring into grand finales.
Mustard seed faith in Christ blossoms into eternal life.
Do you know Jesus?

Psalm 92:12-15 (Amplified Bible)
The [uncompromisingly] righteous shall flourish like the palm tree [be long-lived, stately, upright, useful, and fruitful]; they shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon [majestic, stable, durable, and incorruptible]. Planted in the house of the Lord, they shall flourish in the courts of our God. Growing in grace] they shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be full of sap [of spiritual vitality] and [rich in the] verdure [of trust, love, and contentment]. [They are living memorials] to show that the Lord is upright and faithful to His promises; He is my Rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.

Into His Marvelous Light

Into His Marvelous Light

In the darkness, I was clad from birth.
In the darkness, I had no lasting mirth.
In the darkness, my focus was blurred.
In the darkness, my cry seemed unheard.
In the darkness, my heart feared.
In the darkness, my feet veered.
In the darkness, many tears I shed.
In the darkness, hope was all but dead.
But, then the Light appeared.
Out of darkness, He steered.
In the Light, He dissolved my shame.
In the Light, He changed my name.
In the Light, my salvation arrived.
In the Light, my soul revived.
In the Light, my heart strengthened.
In the Light, my vision lengthened.
In the Light, Truth and Love perfects me.
In the Light, looms my glorious eternal destiny.

1 Peter 2:9-10 (The Message)
But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God's instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.

Stand

Stand

When you find your appropriate spot,
Challengers will dare to knock you off.
Rivals will test you to see what you got,
Taunt, tempt to entrap you with scoff.
Should they be unable to irk your nerve,
Rest assured the struggle is not done.
The blitz will intensify with more verve.
Evil acts may be masked as harmless fun.
The whole intent is to bring you down,
To draw you into their misguided band.
No matter what, don’t you breakdown.
Brace yourself and maintain your stand.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand… Ephesians 6:10-13

At Calvary, Jesus stood in our place to take away our sin that we might be in right standing with God. He is standing at the right hand of the Father making intercession for His people right now. He stood for you. Are you in right standing with Him?

The Value of a Friend

The Value of a Friend

A true friend is precious beyond any doubt.
They gladly take you in, when you’ve been cast out.
Brings you around when your logic is unsound.
Boost your spirit, when burdens weigh you down.
Know something is wrong, when you say all is right.
When you are embattled, they join the fight.
Do not say you’re right when they see you’re wrong.
Yet, try not to hurt you when you’re off-key in song.
They are there to encourage saying, “You can do it!”
They show support saying, “I’ll help you through it.”
A good friend’s value cannot truly be measured.
Let your friends know the bond between you is treasured.

Proverbs 17:17 (Amp) A friend loves at all times, and is born, as is a brother, for adversity.

Proverbs 18: 24. A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

Jesus is the best friend you can ever know. He gave His life because He loved you so. He promised to be with those who sincerely love Him wherever and through whatever they must go.
Do you know Him? He desires your friendship.

How Can I Hold My Peace

How Can I Hold My Peace?

How can I hold my peace?
You have rescued me because of your mercy,
Frustrating my enemy’s plot to frustrate me.

How can I hold my peace?
You granted healing when I had ill health.
You saved me, securing for my soul eternal wealth.

How can I hold my peace?
You favor me to prosper in the works of my hands.
Yet, You fittingly discipline me to obey your commands.

How can I hold my peace?
You hear me when I cry out and wipe away my tears.
Then lovingly bless me, turning my groans into cheers.

How can I hold my peace?
You fill my heart with joy giving me reason to dance.
I shall ever thank You for giving me another chance.

How can I hold my peace?
You set my heart to beat to the rhythm of Your potent word.
Let me not hold my peace until, of Jesus, multitudes have heard.

But if I say, "Forget it!
No more God-Messages from me!"
The words are fire in my belly,
a burning in my bones.
I'm worn out trying to hold it in.
I can't do it any longer!
Jeremiah 20:9 (Message Bible)

Psalm 30:11 (KJV) You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy, 12 that I might sing praises to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever!

He Saw the Best in Me

He Saw the Best in Me

While my errors were exposed,
He understood my vulnerability.
Even as my failures were itemized,
He, yet, looked beyond my liability.
As I groaned under my unworthiness,
He provided mercy for my fragility.
Whilst others divested themselves of me,
At Calvary, He invested in my possibility.
Although sin and shame covered me,
Faith in Him imputed to me respectability.
As the worst of me merited judgment,
He saw me in Him, with Him in eternal tranquility.

He Saw the Best in Me – Himself.

Jesus saves, sanctifies, and satisfies!

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. Ode to LOVE

Ode to LOVE

Love - The highest good
All people should – Love
Love – It brightens the face
An incomparable grace – Love
Love – Heartens the broken
Arouses when fitly spoken - Love
Love – Discernible in one’s deeds
Makes strong men weak-kneed - Love
Love - Sickens the heart when it goes cold
A desire of the young and the old - Love
Love – A precious gift God showered on humanity
Perfectly embodied in the Christ of Christianity - Love

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

Come forth now, O’ Spring.

Come forth now, O’ Spring.

Come forth now, O’ Spring.
We yearn to see you once more.
May we delight in each other, as we did before.

Summer’s fun in the sun has gone.
Fall’s lovely trees are bare to the bone.
The newness of winter has waned.
For desire of you, we are pained.

Come forth now, O’ Spring.
We yearn to see you once more.
May we delight in each other, as we did before.

We await the sight of your green shoots,
To sample your sundry satisfying fruits;
To savor your fragrant bouquet of flowers;
To cavort in your refreshing rain showers.

Come forth now, O’ Spring.
We yearn to see you once more.
May we delight in each other, as we did before.

Your emergence intimates life renewed.
A revival of soul and spirit previously subdued.
Your rich possibilities are well reported of.
To you, the longing look for a birth or rebirth of love.

Come forth now, O’ Spring.
We yearn to see you once more.
May we delight in each other, as we did before.

Do you know Jesus? Through Jesus, perpetual new life springs forth to those who believe on Him as Savior and Lord.

Making Love

Making Love

It is amusing that we, as imperfect a people as we are, believe that we have the right stuff to make or fix that which God created. We believe that we can make love work when much of the time we cannot define nor describe what love is or what love does.

A hurt that is as hell is felt when the sense of love wanes or is lost. When the sense of love wanes, there is tremendous pain. Generally, the bearer of pain seeks a cure by confrontation demanding dialogue, or more shortsightedly immediate transformation. More often than not, emotions are high, thinking before speaking does not occur, and if thinking occurs it is one-sided at best, and what ensues is a bigger mess.

Let us consider the Lord. He loves us. He made the world and then gave it to us as our possession to have dominion over it, under His watchful rule and care. He provided all that we needed. We had unfettered access to Him. It was not enough. We desired more than what He gave. We sinned. We broke the spiritual union between God and ourselves.

What did He do? Did He throw an angry fit? No. Did He call us derogatory names? No. Did He make unreasonable demands? No.

He desired dialogue. But, He did not force it. He desired that the situation be resolved. But, He did not make irrational demands.

He has regard for our human imperfection. He knows we are prone to be distracted and detoured by devilish influences and longings.

Yet, He waits patiently. He keeps His temper. He speaks in a direct, but considerate way. He seeks what is in our best interest by leading us correctly to righteousness, even though we are the offending party. He makes obvious what love is.

I have been hurt by love, but more accurately by my misunderstanding of what love is and does. I focused on how I felt and what I was receiving. I was being selfish. To be selfish is to not be loving. God’s focus is on giving because He is unselfish.

Many times when we say love hurts, we are complaining about what the other party is doing or not doing. By doing this we make as if our love is perfect. But, our complaining reveals that our love is immature, at best.

Love is God’s idea. He made love. He is love. (1 John 4:7) The love that God has for us and which He expects from us is symbolized as charitable or giving. Benevolent affection denotes it. Let no person delude you about love. God is the source of love, the definer of love, and the judge of love. Therefore, seek to understand and practice love from His perspective.

Love is demonstrable and therefore discernible. Since it is demonstrable and discernible, then it behooves us to get a better understanding and to practice love in deed and in truth for our judgment day waits. We will not be afforded the opportunity, when we appear before God, to discuss how others did not love us, but rather to give an account of our love or lack thereof towards God and humanity, even the people who have wronged us.

Paul put it plainly for us- 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (Amplified Bible)
Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. 5It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]. 6It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. 7Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]. 8Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]….

John tacks on for greater clarity- 1 John 3:18 (Amplified Bible) 18Little children, let us not love [merely] in theory or in speech but in deed and in truth (in practice and in sincerity).

If your love is hurting, check to see if God is there. You don’t know love unless you know the God who designed love. Another can never really love you as God designed without knowing the God who designed love. When you know God, He puts love into your account-it is within you-yet He calls you to grow in love, to mature to a greater understanding and to make way for greater manifestation of love in your life from the purest of motives-simply because God says-so and because His Spirit is within you, leading you. The closer you are to God, the greater the revelation of love will be revealed in your life.

You make love by manifesting love. You make love by manifesting God. When you manifest God, those people who you desire love from can be influenced and transformed by the very love that you show. Then, they will be able to show you the love you seek.

However, you cannot make anyone love you. Neither should you entertain trying to deceive people into loving you nor should you interfere in someone else’s relationship vying for the affection of someone who is committed to someone else. Don’t be the other man or the other woman-you are better than that and you deserve better than that.

Christ desires our love. He has us on His heart and mind. He demonstrated the extensiveness of His love in His life lifting up those who were burdened down meeting their needs and in engaging with people who hated Him trying to turn them around. He, demonstrated the depth of His love through His death, burial, and resurrection. Now, He kindheartedly, uncomplainingly awaits our reply to Him. He is caringly speaking unto us, saying, “Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

And when a person truly from the bottom of their heart looks to Calvary to see what Christ has done for them, how can they not love Him?

May I Speak?

May I Speak?

Hey, you. Got a minute?

May I speak?
My perspective may not be unique.
However, perhaps God will give me a word-
Inspiration or affirmation that may, your faith, undergird.

May I speak?
My way with words may not be chic.
But, perchance the Lord will give me utterance
That truly will enhance your spiritual furtherance.

May I speak?
If I err, enrich me by your critique.
It is God’s will that His people edify one another.
By reasoning together, we can learn from each other.

May I speak?
I have a story that may seem masked in mystique.
Allow me to tell the greatest love story ever declared to men.
God the Father sent His Son to die to save the world from sin.

Hey, you. Got a minute?

May I speak?

Acts 5:20 Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

A Dreamer Dreamed a Dream

A Dreamer Dreamed a Dream

A dreamer dreamed a dream about a distant star.
He dreamed of going the distance despite how far.
He resolved to go regardless of the cost it would entail.
Some would not dare due to the risk that they might fail.
He recalled some wise advice-nothing fails but a try.
He considered that real failure is failing never to try.
He prayed, made plans, and put them into action.
Sundry setbacks ensued, stirring up dissatisfaction.
Progress slowed, but his dream, it did not smother.
He kept moving, putting one foot before the other.
Much time passed, it seemed he would never make it.
The dream so gripped him that he could never shake it.
God saw his desire and then rewarded his determination.
God granted him the coveted star rousing great jubilation.
Let this message be an encouragement to the dreamer in you.
Dreams delayed aren’t always dreams denied; God cares for you.

Dream on dreamer, God can make all your worthy dreams come true.

The Matter of Chatter…

The Matter of Chatter…

Beep-beep, twitter, tweet
Goes my little bundle of verve.
Energy to burn, reserves aplenty,
And chatter that dances on my nerve.

Rhythmic mumbo jumbo,
Can babble have a beat?
Heartfelt, yet illogical psychoanalysis
Comes in a voice so youthfully sweet.

Babble on. Rarely off.
Chatter here. Chatter there.
She is positively resolute
Dispensing chatter everywhere.

Yet, there are moments so poignant
As my little wonder powerfully expresses.
She articulates extraordinary wisdom.
From her little mouth, she blesses.

Thus, I pause, pondering in my mind
As my baby girl rattles on.
Now is a perfect time to listen and join in.
I will miss her when she goes to raise a chatterer all her own.

My Elevator

My Elevator

My foes, with their mouth, dig pits for me.
Their words are as dirt conceived to bury me.
They yearn to break my will by intimidation.
They query my integrity amid the congregation.
They mistrust my motives; criticize my ability.
They brashly boost themselves, void of humility.
They slyly mask their mischief by a flimsy guise,
Oblivious that God observes with all-seeing eyes.
When I consider their deeds, it grieves my soul,
For my one desire is to win my God-given goal.
I beseech my God in the midst of my distress.
He bestows grace lifting me above wickedness.
His word reminds that He has me on His mind.
His Spirit sways me to be forgiving and kind.
When I petition, my Elevator opens the door.
He takes me in and takes me up to a higher floor.
He mystifies my foes by His favor towards me.
He uses their evil effort to show forth His glory.
I wholeheartedly recommend my Elevator to you.
His name is Jesus; He lifts above sin and enemies, too.

Psalms 3
1. Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. 2. Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. 3. But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. 4. I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. 5. I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me. 6. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about. 7. Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly. 8. Salvation belongeth unto the Lord: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

Giving without Gaining

G i v i n g without G a i n i n g

There are those who delight greatly in giving
To outwardly showcase their reputable living.
They boast of their numerous noble deeds
In providing, to remedy the poor’s needs.
They may appear to have the purest aim.
But, a wise review reveals a great shame.
They do not contribute to bring God glory
But, seek publicity for their self-serving story.
They give not from a heart spirited with love.
For, they love neither humanity nor God above.
Their insincere charity achieves no enduring gain.
True charity springs from love one does not feign.
As when God confirmed His love toward all men,
He sent His beloved Son to end the rule and ruin of sin.

Let love lead you. Let love guide you. Let love fill you.
Let love live inside of you.
Jesus is LOVE…
For love He gave His life that you may gain life.
Receive Jesus, gain love and eternal life.
Then give love that others may perhaps gain Jesus.

1 Corinthians 13:3 (Amplified Bible) - Even if I dole out all that I have [to the poor in providing] food, and if I surrender my body to be burned or in order that I may glory, but have not love (God's love in me), I gain nothing.
