Appraised by Praise
Praise is a thing most hath sought.
A snare wherein some hath been caught.
If thou, by chance, hast been praised,
Thy inner secrets hath not been overlaid.
Praise bringeth out that which is within.
Shewing thou art virtuous or soiled by sin.
If thy heart be pure, praise proveth thee humble.
If thou art swollen in pride, sin maketh thee stumble.
When thou art praised, courteously labour,
To praise the Lord who blesseth thee with favor.
