FOUR WAYS A CHRISTIAN SHOULD STAND

FOUR WAYS A CHRISTIAN SHOULD STAND
(Written by Minister Sherry Ivy on 5/29/10)

There are times in our lives when we say I have given this situation to God and I’m going to leave it alone and when God don’t come quick enough for us we find ourselves trying to help Him out. When we find ourselves doing this all we can do is stand and let God work them out for us because He can do what we cannot do. “And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.” (Luke 18:27) These are just a few of the many ways a Christian should stand:

Stand still - Sometimes we get trapped in the middle of a situation like the Israelites and we don’t know which way we should go or what we should do but one thing we shouldn’t do is let the enemy plant fear in our mind. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7) And we shouldn’t give up we should stand still like Moses told the Israelites and see the salvation of the Lord. “And Moses said unto the people, fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord. Which we will shew you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more for ever.” (Exodus 14:13)

Stand against the wiles of the devil - IN order for us to stand against the wiles of the devil we have to put on the whole Armour of God. We have to be completely armed one or two pieces will not do. The devil knows our weakest points and he aims for them with discouragement, frustration, and confusion. If he cannot get us one way he will try another because we cannot overcome the devices of the devil in our own strength and power. “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:11)

Stand fast in your faith – As children of God we have to be watchful and alert and stand fast in our faith by doing this it will keep our spiritual enemies from slipping in to destroy us. We also have to be strong in the Lord in all that we do. “Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, and be strong.” (1 Corinthians 16:13)

Stand fast in the Liberty of Christ – We have been made free with the cost of the death of Christ, We have liberty in Christ and that liberty is not a rule but a principle. Our conduct should not be to please ourselves or others but to please Christ. So stand fast in the liberty Christ hath made for us and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” (Galatians 5:1)

So be encouraged today and always remember if we stand fast in the Lord we will have joy and receive our crown. “Therefore my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.” (Philippians 4:1)
